Three main purposes of us spending our money creating a front yard landscaping is to have a welcoming atmosphere for visitors, accentuate your living space and most importantly increase the value of your home and neighborhood. In case you would like to sell your house for an upgrade later, the appealing front yard landscaping will attract potential buyers and make your investment worthwhile. Because of this reason, you will have to plan your front yard landscaping design to make an impressive entrance.
Front yard landscaping usually designs around the accessibility of your pathways and driveway. Generally, this factor may have already be set basing upon the entrance to your garage as well as your front door. So, this is very easy.
Simple is the best for front yard landscaping from my experience. It will keep the cost down and ease on the maintenance. There is usually not much activity going on in the front yard but for a mere purpose of showcasing a lovely environment. Most of the time, we don’t even access the house through the front door but from the garage entrance. Therefore, my suggestion is to place attractive and colorful flowers and plants in your front yard landscaping with some essence of shrubs creating depth and height perception.
Below are some tips.
Add stimulating objects to attract birds and butterflies visiting your front yard landscape. You can add a bird house or bird bath around the shrubs and colorful arrays of flowers.
Sitting bench or Swing Set
If you like to mingle with your neighbors and relax watching the daily activities on your street or supervising your kids playing, then, I would suggest a placement of a sitting area.
It can be just a bench under a tree or shed or a swing set depending on your space and budget. Create some borders around the space and surrounding it with different colorful flowers and shrubs. I prefer to just place pots of plants and flowers and change it up whenever and however I like.
Mix Perennials and Annuals plants
Perennials bloom every year and it can be propagated by division. It is the most cost-effective way to a maintenance free front yard landscaping. Perennials bloom in succession and you can be assured there is always something flourish to capture your eyes.
Whereas annuals only last one season with lively continuous bloom. They are usually cheaper to buy and easy to plant during Spring. And just because they only last for one season, it is best for you to try out new colors and variation to spike up your front yard landscape. By mixing perennials and annuals, you will get the best of both worlds.
One thing for sure, is that you do not want to overdo your landscaping and create messy clutter appearance. The best way is to create lots of different sections with s simple lawn and your flower choices. If you are favoring some exotic extravagant plants, keep that idea to your backyard landscaping which I will talk about in my next articles.
Adding some beautiful lighting along the pathways or driveways and flower beds will make your front yard landscaping look fabulously charming and elegant day and night. If you can afford a captivating fountain, that would be an excellent addition.
You can use a low voltage lighting if not, the solar-power lights which is available at no extra cost to your electric bills.
Lastly, keep track of the progress of your front yard landscaping project. The key word is finishing. If you do not finish the project where you have started, your front yard will look messy and distress.
